TO:
Honorable Todd Staples, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:

IN RE:
HB55 by Grusendorf (Relating to the designation of portions of Interstate Highway 20 inside Dallas and Tarrant Counties as the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the portion of Interstate Highway 20 located between the Tarrant-Parker County Line and the eastern municipal boundary of Grand Prairie as the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway to the extent that money is available for this purpose from a grant or donation of private funds.  The bill would require that funds collected under Section 225.021 of the Transportation Code (General Provisions), shall be deposited to the credit of the State Highway Fund.  Based on the analysis of TxDOT, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
