Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB57 by Denny (Relating to the dates on which elections may be held and certain procedures involving the uniform election held in May.), As Engrossed
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
Local election administrations would see some costs savings. Victoria County reported potential savings of 25 percent in early voting clerk costs, but no savings in supplies or ballots, assuming that the same number of people would attempt to vote. Guadalupe County reported a potential savings of 30 percent in early voting costs. Collin and Smith counties also reported that the provisions of the bill could result in lower early voting expenditures.
