IN RE:
HB78 by Riddle (Relating to the authority of a peace officer to make a warrantless arrest for the commission of family violence.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure by allowing a peace officer to arrest without a warrant persons who the peace officer has probable cause to believe have committed family violence. The bill would also specify conditions in which peace officers would remain at the scene of the investigation to verify the allegation and prevent the further commission of the violation of family violence. It is estimated that implementation of the bill would not have a significant impact on the costs of state or local government.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
