No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to restrict a political subdivision that holds an election from spending funds for advertising, promotional materials, or educational materials related to the election or measure starting on the 60th day before the election date. The restrictions would not apply to spending for notices and publications required by the Election Code and other statute or municipal charter. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005 and would apply only to elections for which the election order is adopted on or after that date.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
