LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 18, 2005

TO:
Honorable Suzanna Gratia Hupp, Chair, House Committee on Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB287 by McClendon (Relating to the establishment of a pilot program to provide local oversight of child protective services.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services to establish a child protective services local oversight council pilot program in Bexar County.  It would require the council to submit a report concerning the effectiveness of the pilot program to the Legislature no later than January 1, 2007, and abolish the council on September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
