LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2005

TO:
Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation, & Tourism

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB319 by Hupp (Relating to designation of portions of United States Highway 190 and Interstate Highway 10 as the 1st Cavalry Division Memorial Highway.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the portion of US 190 from the border of Louisiana to its intersection with Interstate 10 and Interstate 10 from its intersection with US 190 to the New Mexico border as the 1st Cavalry Division Memorial Highway. Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house.  If the bill does not receive a two-thirds majority vote in each house, the bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
