No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code and Government Code as it relates to the identification information required of applicants for a driver's license or for certain public benefits, public services, or governmental employment.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house. If the bill does not receive the necessary vote, it would take effect September 1, 2005.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. There would be some costs to local governmental entities to inform citizens of the change in the law, but these costs are not expected to be significant.
