IN RE: | HB426 by Dutton (Relating to the right of an employee to time off from work to participate in certain school activities of the employee's child; providing a penalty.), As Introduced |
The provisions of the bill amend the Labor Code to allow an employee up to 2 hours in each semester to participate in a school activity that involves the employee’s child. Employers must not retaliate against employees for taking this leave, and employees are provided remedies and penalties. Employers with 10 or more employees must post a notice designed by Texas Workforce Commission.
The Texas Workforce Commission indicates any additional costs could be absorbed by the agency's existing resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
