HB429 by Dutton (Relating to requiring the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to provide notice to certain persons of the right to vote.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to give written notification upon release to inmates that they may be eligible to vote if they are statutorily qualified.  TDCJ would also be required to give releasees an official voter registration application form.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
