TO:
Honorable Allan Ritter, Chair, House Committee on Economic Development

FROM:

IN RE:
HB430 by Dutton (Relating to the right of an employee to time off from work to meet with certain persons affecting the education of the employee's child.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The provisions of the bill amend the Labor Code to allow an employee up to 10 hours in each 12-month period to participate in a school activity that involves the employee’s child. Employers must not retaliate against employees for taking this leave, and employees are provided remedies.

The Texas Workforce Commission indicates any additional costs could be absorbed by the agency's existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
