No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add Section 22.008 to the Education Code relating to the termination or suspension of educational support employees.  Under the bill, a person who proposes to terminate or suspend an educational support employee without pay would be required to submit written notice to the superintendent and the superintendent would be required to reject or approve the proposed action. 

The provisions would apply beginning with the 2005-06 school year.


Local Government Impact

While school district staff would be required to follow the process outlined in the bill regarding the termination of educational support employees, no significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
