LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2005

TO:
Honorable Kent Grusendorf, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB469 by Corte (Relating to the transfer of public school students who are the victims of certain criminal conduct or the siblings of the victims.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require a school district to transfer a student victim of assault, aggravated assault, sexual assault, or aggravated sexual assault or the sibling of the victim to another campus upon parental request, regardless of where the offense occurred.

The legislation would take effect on September 1, 2003 or upon enactment by the appropriate majority.

Local Government Impact

While there may be some additional administrative costs for local school districts associated with processing transfer requests, it is assumed there would be no significant fiscal impact on a statewide basis.
