LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2005

TO:
Honorable Kenneth Armbrister, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB484 by West, George "Buddy" (Relating to the filing of electric logs with the Railroad Commission of Texas.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the operator of an oil or gas well to file a well log with the Railroad Commission within 90 days after completion of drilling or deepening operations. The amendment would place the responsibility for maintaining copies of and filing the log on the operator of the well. The bill could result in programming changes being necessary at the Railroad Commission. However, any such costs are not expected to be signficant.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
