LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 3, 2005

TO:
Honorable Joe Nixon, Chair, House Committee on Civil Practices

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB490 by Deshotel (Relating to enforcement of certain provisions in construction contracts.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code as it relates to the enforcement of certain provisions in construction contracts. The Texas Department of Insurance reports there may be a slight increase in filings as insurers amend their policies and endorsements to comply with the act, but the costs could be reasonably absorbed using current agency resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
