IN RE:
HB517 by Guillen (Relating to daily physical activity requirements in public schools.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require that State Board of Education rules concerning daily physical activity requirements ensure that time spent by a student walking from one classroom to another, walking to or from a school bus, or engaging in other routine activities associated with the school day be excluded from determination of compliance with the requirement.

The bill would take effect immediately upon passage by the necessary voting margins or on September 1, 2005.  The provision would apply beginning with the 2005-2006 school year.

Local Government Impact
