LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 17, 2005

TO:
Honorable Ray Allen, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB602 by Eissler (Relating to the designation of a weight enforcement officer by a commissioners court.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 621, Transportation Code, to authorize a constable or deputy constable to be designated as a weight enforcement officer by the county commissioners court. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote in each house; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

If a county commissioners court were to designate a constable or deputy constable as a weight enforcement officer, the county would incur the cost of training and certification for each person designated as such.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
