HB603 by Eissler (Relating to the expulsion of a public school student for using, exhibiting, or possessing a weapon.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would revise language relating to offenses involving firearms and other weapons to trigger action if the student intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly uses, exhibits, or possesses the firearm or other weapon, unless action is required under federal provisions.  It is assumed that the provisions in the bill could affect the number of students expelled.  
 
The bill would take effect September 1, 2005 or immediately upon enactment with the necessary voting majorities and would apply beginning with the 2005-06 school year.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
