FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 26, 2005

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB604 by Hopson (Relating to participation as an annuitant under the Texas Employees Group Benefits Act.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the criteria for an individual to qualify as an annuitant of the group benefits program for certain employees of a school district that operates schools at facilities of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  Because the bill would only affect twelve employees, costs of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
