HB610 by Giddings (Relating to the creation of an offense of using a telephone while operating a school bus.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to make a person liable of committing an offense for using a telephone while operating a school bus unless the bus is stopped, there are no passengers on the bus, or the driver is reporting an emergency and cannot safely stop the bus.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
