LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 13, 2005

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB617 by McCall (Relating to contributions made by and the service retirement annuity paid to certain members of the Judicial Retirement System of Texas Plan Two.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow a Judicial Retirement Plan II (JRS II) judge to stop making contributions when the member has served at least twelve years on an appellate court and reached a "rule of 70." The JRS II actuary projected a slightly decreased revenue stream to JRS II over the years, which would not be significant.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
