LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 23, 2005

TO:
Honorable David Swinford, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB634 by Baxter (Relating to requiring public officials to receive training in the requirements of the open meetings and public information laws.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) currently provides numerous training opportunities for government employees and officials.  The passage of the bill would require the OAG to increase the number of training opportunities it provides.  However, the OAG anticipates any clerical/legal work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed with current resources.

The bill would take effect January 1, 2006.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
