TO: | Honorable Todd Staples, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB747 by McReynolds (Relating to the designation of the El Camino East/West Corridor.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted |
The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the portion of SH 7, SH 21, SH 103, US 290, and IH 10 from Pendleton to El Paso as the El Camino Real East/West Corridor. The bill would also require the El Camino Real East/West Commission to reimburse TxDOT for the cost to install the signs and the reimbursed funds shall be deposited to the credit of the state highway fund. Based on the analysis of TxDOT, the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be carried out using existing resources.
The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in each house. If the bill does not receive a two-thirds majority vote in each house, the bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
