No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill would require the Department of Family and Protective Services (FPS) to develop, along with local law enforcement and the Commission on State Emergency Communications, a training program for personnel who receive intake reports. The training program would address proper methods of screening reports of abuse and/or neglect and ways to determine the seriousness of the report. FPS estimates a one-time cost of $14,636 to implement provisions of the bill. It is assumed that the agency could absorb this expense within current/recommended funding levels. This bill would take effect on September 1, 2005.
