LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 19, 2005

TO:
Honorable Norma Chavez, Chair, House Committee on Border and International Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB805 by Martinez (Relating to allowing a law enforcement officer to take the fingerprints of people who receive emergency medical services in certain counties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a law enforcement officer in a county that borders the United Mexican States to take fingerprints of a person who receives emergency medical services through an emergency medical services and trauma care system to verify the person's identity if the person does not possess or refuses to provide at the time personal identification. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

It is anticipated that the additional number of persons to be fingerprinted would not have a significant fiscal impact on state or local government law enforcement agencies.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
