LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 15, 2005

TO:
Honorable Dianne White Delisi, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB929 by Dutton (Relating to certain filing requirements for a death certificate.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the requirement for filing a death certificate with the local registrar from no later than 10 days after the date of death to no later than 10 days after the date the person required to file the death certificate obtains personal information and medical certification required by the Health and Safety Code.  The Department of State Health Services estimates there is no direct fiscal impact to the agency; however, the Department reports that provisions of the bill may conflict with requirements of federal contracts and federal funding could be impacted if the bill were to be implemented.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
