March 21, 2005

TO:
Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation, & Tourism

IN RE:
HB944 by Geren (Relating to the license requirements of marine dealers, distributors, and manufacturers.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 31 of the Parks and Wildlife Code relating to relating to the license requirements of marine dealers, distributors, and manufacturers.  The bill would remove a requirement that a marine dealer must conduct sales “at an established or permanent place of business in this state.”  The bill would authorize the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to require license holders to enter into license agreements and establish revocation and suspension procedures.  No fiscal implication to the state is anticipated, because under the bill TPWD indicates the department would modify current licensing practices at no additional expense.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
