No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require certain health practitioners who provide physical examinations required for participation in UIL-sanctioned sports activities or examine a student due to injuries sustained during such an activity to provide a written notification to the student and their parent or legal guardian regarding secondary injury associated with head trauma.
The bill would take effect immediately upon adoption by the necessary voting majorities or September 1, 2005 and would apply beginning with the 2005-2006 school year.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Some school districts may experience a slight increase in costs associated with providing the required notification.
