LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 24, 2005

TO:
Honorable Tom Craddick, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1044 by Eiland (Relating to an optional procedure for the issuance of a permit by a certain county for the movement of oversize or overweight vehicles.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The provisions of the bill would provide an optional procedure for the issuance of permits by Chambers County for the movement of oversize or overweight vehicles carrying cargo on certain state highways located in that county with authorization from the Texas Transportation Commission.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house or otherwise on September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
