FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 17, 2005

TO:
Honorable Robert Talton, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1056 by Goodman (Relating to municipal notice provisions relating to substandard buildings.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a municipality that has filed an order related to buildings found to be substandard to file a copy of the order in the real property records of each county in which the property is located. If a municipality files with each county, it would constitute notice to and be binding on any subsequent grantee, lienholder, or other transferee who acquires an interest in the property after the order is filed.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
