IN RE:	HB1098 by McCall (Relating to using the Internet to obtain identifying information of another person for a fraudulent purpose; providing a penalty.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Title 4, Business & Commerce Code by adding Chapter 48, which would
prohibit electronic mail fraud and the creation of an internet website or domain name for fraudulent
purposes. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

The proposed legislation may result in new complaints, investigations or cases by the Office of the
Attorney General; however, it is projected that this increase can be absorbed by current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
