Honorable Joe Nixon, Chair, House Committee on Civil Practices
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1122 by Uresti (Relating to requirements for certain medical treatment consent forms.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require that certain medical treatment disclosure forms be printed in English, Spanish, and any other language that the Texas Medical Disclosure Panel considers appropriate. The Department of State Health Services indicates that the disclosure forms would need to be translated into Spanish and Vietnamese, at a total, one-time cost of $1,000. There would be additional translation costs if the forms are revised. It is assumed that the department would be able to absorb these costs within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
