Honorable Will Hartnett, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1192 by Madden (Relating to court personnel education.), As Introduced
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require justice court clerks and employees to successfully complete a 16-hour course on the performance of their duties not later than the first anniversary of the date a clerk is designated to serve as clerk of the justice court or an individual is employed by the justice court. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005 and would apply to justice court clerks and employees hired on or after that date. In addition, a person already serving the justice court must comply with the requirements of the bill on or before September 1, 2006.
Local Government Impact
If the justice court pays for the training, it is anticipated that the costs would be insignificant. If the individuals pay the costs of the training, there would be no fiscal impact to the justice courts.
