No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code as it relates to the collection and dissemination by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) of information relating to certain threats against detention officers.

 

The bill would amend the Government Code to require DPS to add information relating to an individual's expression of intent to inflict serious bodily injury or death on a detention officer to its central index of law enforcement information systems, which collects and disseminates information relating to threats against peace officers. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2005.
