Honorable Frank Madla, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1478 by Wong (Relating to the eminent domain power of certain municipal management districts.), As Engrossed
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would specify that 21 different municipal management districts in the Greater Houston area would not have the power to exercise eminent domain. The bill would take effect immediately if it receives the required two-thirds vote in both houses; otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2005.
Local Government Impact
Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
