IN RE:
HB1531 by Jackson, Jim (Relating to telematics services excepted from private security regulation.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Occupations Code to allow telematics service providers to be exempt from private security regulation if they establish guidelines as stringent as the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International and pay an annual fee of $2,500. The Department of Public Safety indicates that there are only about three companies in the state doing business in the telematics industry, and any additional revenue that would result from the bill is not anticipated to be significant. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
