May 9, 2005

TO:
Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1586 by West, George "Buddy" (Relating to the transaction of business by the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Court of Appeals District.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 22 of the Government Code relating to the transaction of business by the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Court of Appeals District.  The bill would allow the court to transact its business in the City of Eastland or in any county in the district as the court determines is necessary or convenient.  The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

To the extent the bill would generate new savings or costs from the court transacting business in a different locality other than the court’s home seat of Eastland, the fiscal implication to the State is not anticipated to be significant.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
