LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 25, 2005

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1600 by Madden (Relating to the issuance of special license plates for Texas sheriffs.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would amend the Transportation Code and require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design and issue a new specialty license plate bearing the words "Texas Sheriff."  Based on information provided by TxDOT and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources and that implementing the provisions of the bill would not significantly effect the state's cash flow.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
