LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 20, 2005

TO:
Honorable Craig Eiland, Chair, House Committee on Pensions & Investments

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1621 by Alonzo (Relating to a study and report concerning predicted faculty retirement at general academic teaching institutions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require each general academic institution or university system to conduct a study and prepare a report relating to projected faculty retirements through 2025. The study would include methods the institution could reasonably implement to address retirement issues. The institutions would submit a report based on the study to the Higher Education Coordinating Board by September 1, 2006. The institutions and university systems indicate that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
