TO:
Honorable Todd Staples, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

IN RE:
HB1645 by Hughes (Relating to the designation of United States Highway 80 in this state as the World War II Veterans Memorial Highway. ), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect markers designating the portion of United States Highway 80 located in this state as the World War II Veterans Memorial Highway upon receiving a grant or donation of private funds to cover the cost of the design, construction, and erection of the markers.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

This bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
