LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 18, 2005

TO:
Honorable Carlos Uresti, Chair, House Committee on Government Reform

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1828 by Wong (Relating to requiring sex offenders released on parole or mandatory supervision to maintain a certain distance from any premises where children frequently gather.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code by specifying when child safety zone requirements apply to certain parolees.  The bill would also specify the conditions for which an officer notifies school personnel that a releasee will enter a child safety zone.  It is assumed that any costs to the State resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed with current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
