The bill would add to the list of requirements that must be explained to and which apply to a person who must register as a sex offender prior to release from a penal institution in Texas, that they may not enter onto the premises of a public park without immediately notifying a law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the park. The local law enforcement agency would be authorized to provide a chaperone while the person is on the public park premises. Provisions of the bill would require that local law enforcement agencies provide at the time of providing a sex offender registration form to a person to provide a statement and description of the person's registration duties under Article 62.0452, Code of Criminal Procedure.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
