No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government to require the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to develop methods of projecting the available number of county jail beds for confinement of TDCJ prisoners. The bill would also require TDCJ to develop a policy to determine which inmates would be the best candidates for confinement in county jail beds. The bill would require the Texas Commission on Jail Standards to assist TDCJ with the requirements of the bill.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
