Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 28, 2005

TO:
Honorable Harvey Hilderbran, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation, & Tourism

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1959 by McReynolds (Relating to the hunting of deer with dogs and the taking of wildlife resources without the consent of the landowner; providing penalties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would provide an enforcement tool to deter the unlawful hunting of deer with dogs in certain East Texas counties where the activity has historically occurred, including a Class A Parks and Wildlife misdemeanor punishable by suspension or revocation of hunting and fishing licenses and permits for first time violations. To the extent the bill would require the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission to adopt rules for the bill’s implementation, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
