HB1965 by Hartnett (Relating to the grounds for a divorce and the division of property in a decree of divorce.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends the Family Code as it relates to grounds for divorce and the division of property.  The bill removes the permissive language from the statute and directs the court to consider any fault in the division of the property in question during divorce proceedings.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
