No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would specify that the act of maintaining a public nuisance that is a junked vehicle would be a Class C misdemeanor. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005 and would apply only to an offense committed on or after that date.

Under current statute, the offense is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $200. Punishment for a Class C misdemeanor can be a fine of up to $500.
