LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 2, 2005

TO:
Honorable Robert Talton, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1998 by Van Arsdale (Relating to the timing of hearings and community meetings regarding applications for an allocation of low income housing tax credits.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) to modify its low-income housing tax credit application process so that hearings and community meetings on
applications for an allocation of housing tax credits are not held during the period beginning on the 30th day before the date a regular legislative session convenes and ending on the 30th day after the date of final adjournment.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Based on the analysis of TDHCA, it is assumed any duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
