TO:
Honorable Jerry Madden, Chair, House Committee on Corrections

IN RE:
HB2077 by Kolkhorst (Relating to the prohibition of wireless communications devices in correctional facilities operated by or under contract with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; providing penalties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code to make providing Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmates with wireless communications devices or components of such devices a felony of the third degree. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005. Because the bill is not expected to substantially add to the inmate population, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
