No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would prohibit a peace officer from use the officer's status or rank to advertise or otherwise promote a private business. The bill would also authorize the peace officer's employing governmental entity to take disciplinary action against an officer who violates the prohibition. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.
