No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 24 of the Government Code to reduce the terms of court from four to two for the 15^th and 59^th district courts and repeal the provision setting four terms of court for the 336^th district court.  No fiscal implication to the state is anticipated, because the bill would reduce the number of grand juries empanelled during the year at the three courts, which would generate minimal savings to local government. 

 

The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  The bill would generate minimal savings to local government by reducing the number of grand juries empanelled during the year, potentially reducing the amount of expenditures for delivery, interrogation of potential grand jurors, administration of oaths, and responses to challenges to the array or an individual juror.
