LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 79TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 19, 2005

TO:
Honorable Todd Staples, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Deputy Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2300 by Turner (Relating to the authority of metropolitan rapid transit authorities to enter into comprehensive development agreements.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would apply to a metropolitan rapid transit authority in which the principal municipality has a population of more than 1.2 million. The bill would take effect September 1, 2005.

Based on the 2000 federal census, the City of Houston is the only municipality to which the bill would currently affect.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
